Facebook turned 10. Yikes, where do the years go? It has been a decade of social and sharing which isn’t necessarily a good thing. If you’re like us, we are overwhelmed by the quantity and volume of “shares” and personal broadcasts. It also appears to be a Pavlovian experiment eroding the foundations of tightly knit and bonded families with a myriad of scientific studies to back this up. Focus has moved from “us” and “we” to “all about me” – shoot and forget or blast and broadcast – as individuals carefully curate and perform their lives to mostly non-listening audiences.
Our Family Lives believes the things we do together, the processes we engage in allow us to grow closer, to know more fully, to love more deeply. Our world and societies that comprise it are built on the collective whole of the group, and not a combination of lone individuals. Our Family Lives believes that beyond Social and sharing is Interaction and contributing between generations and for all generations.
We are more than just the now … and we should be for an even better world.
