We are all overwhelmed by too many options and too many choices in our daily digital lives. Sure Our Family Lives (OFL) is another digital choice, but only to COMPLEMENT all the other choices your family has already made for communicating and collaborating (i.e. Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, etc.). OFL allows you to orchestrate these choices and centralize your digital mementos into an augmented, cohesive dialogue. In other words, there’s no need to change what you’re already doing.
OFL allows you to leave your mementos where they are, but yet be integrated into your family dialogues on OFL. (Yeah, it’s a new way of thinking and behavior in the digital space.)
On You: These are the mementos are those living on your computer, hard drives, and local storage. Generally, you’ll need to upload those either to a service of your choice or on us (in your own private area). However, if you’ve enabled your storage for Internet access, simply enter the web address link in OFL.
On Others: These mementos are those items which may reside on photo sharing services or cloud drives such as Flickr, Shutterfly, or Dropbox. If the service allows, simply enter the memento’s web address link on OFL. There is no need whatsoever to import these mementos into OFL.
On Us: These mementos are those that have been uploaded to OFL which is private and unsearchable by Internet ‘bots, spiders, and crawlers (this is how your life becomes “public” when Googled). A single copy of the memento is stored on OFL and is available to be used over and over again in your family dialogues.
Indeed, if you’d like to link to an entire photo album on a another service, just enter the link and your family will be able to be able to navigate directly to the album. But with the capabilities of OFL you’ll be able to ADD and CREATE additional mementos about and to this album memento.
